The Gare do Oriente is Lisbon's modern intermodal transportation hub. It is the hub for the Lisbon Metro, commuter rail, regional rail and taxi service. There is also a national and international bus station at the hub.
Handling more than 75 million passengers annually, the Gare do Oriente station is one of the largest stations in the world. It handles more passengers than New York's Grand Central Terminal.

Gare do Oriente is located in the heart of Parque das Nações (site of Expo 98). It is 6 km east of the Lisbon city centre.
The architecturally attractive complex is itself a tourist attraction.
