The Gare do Oriente is Lisbon's modern intermodal transportation hub.  It is a hub for the Lisbon Metro, commuter rail, regional rail and taxi service.  There is also a national and international bus station in within the hub.

Handling more than 75 million passengers annually, the Gare do Oriente station is one of the largest stations in the world.

Gare do Oriente is located in in the heart of Parque das Nações (site of Expo 98).  It is 6 km east of the Lisbon city centre.

The architecturally attractive complex is itself a tourist attraction.

The city of Lisbon has three main railway stations:

  1. Santa Apolonia Station (downtown)
  2. Rossio Station (downtown)
  3. Cais do Sodre Station (train, ferry and metro station)

Many international trains arrive at the Santa Apolónia Station on Avenida Infante Dom Henrique.
