Lisbon Portugal Tourist Information and Vacation Guide

The "Aqueduct of Free Waters" transports water some 18 km to Lisbon Portugal. It is called "Aqueduto das Aquas Livres" in Portuguese.

This historic aqueduct was completed in 1748 and features massive arches along its route.

Visitors to Lisbon can enjoy the majesty of this engineering project on the outskirts of town.  It is one of Lisbon's most famous landmarks.

Along its path, the aqueduct crosses the Alcantara River and Alcantara Valley.
